KPU Puts the Grey Cup to Work for a Good Cause

METRO VANCOUVER, BC – (December 21, 2011) – Each year the School of Business hosts a quiet holiday social to finish the end of the term and to collect unwrapped toys or canned goods for a worthy cause. This year's reception was unique as the guests had an opportunity to welcome the Grey Cup to KPU and to contribute to the Dylan Reichelt Memorial Award.

BC Lions Head Coach Mike Benevides introduced the Grey Cup to the gathering and thanked everyone for their support.  Defensive Backs Coach and multiple Grey Cup Champion Mark Washington commented, "The Grey Cup really belongs to everyone. It's great when people have a chance to see it and touch it. You can really see how they light up." Both Lions mingled with and chatted with the attendees and they were both very gracious in posing for numerous photographs.

Arthur Coren, Dean of the School of Business, said, "We were delighted to welcome faculty and staff from across the University. What made it even more special was the presence of the Grey Cup and the opportunity to honour a student's memory. The folks that attended had a great time and they really showed their support."

Between donations and matching funds, over $7000 was raised to boost the Dylan Reichelt Memorial Award. Dylan, a student in the Business Management Program, was tragically lost in a car accident in early November.

KPU has been serving the Metro Vancouver region for more than 30 years, and has opened doors to success for more than 250,000 people.
