Tue, Feb 7, 2012

Four internationally acclaimed guitarists, under one roof, for one night only. Kwantlen Polytechnic University has been holding the Fraser Valley Acoustic Guitar Festival for 15 years and is the featured event each year for the Kwantlen Music Department's guitar program. On Saturday, February 25, the university will do it all over again.

This year, the following guitarists will be featured:

  • Don Alder (Fingerstyle Acoustic Guitar) – Won every major acoustic fingerstyle guitar competition in the world.
  • Daniel Bolshoy (Classical Guitar) – Has performed in every major Canadian centre and is becoming one of Canada's most visible classical guitarists on the international stage.
  • Celso Machado – Virtuoso Brazilian guitarist and composer. Considered one of the most versatile and exciting musician/composers of Brazilian music in the world today.
  • David Sinclair – One of the top-call studio players on the West Coast, doing a myriad of jingles, TV shows, films, and records. He has also toured with some of the world's top selling artists, including Sarah McLachlan and K.D. Lang.

"Kwantlen's Music Department guitar program is becoming the musical hub in the Fraser Valley for classical and acoustic guitar education. The festival gives high school and university students-as well as communities in the Fraser Valley-an opportunity to hear and learn from world class musicians in their own backyard," said Don Hlus, Director of Guitar & Strings, Fraser Valley Acoustic Guitar Festival Coordinator & Artistic Director.
