KPU announces new librarian

wantlen Polytechnic University is pleased to announce the appointment of Todd Mundle as KPU's new University Librarian effective May 1, 2012.

Mundle's career extends over 23 years; for the past ten he has been an Associate University Librarian at the Simon Fraser University library; prior to that his responsibilities included collections and scholarly communications, library budgeting and personnel.

Mundle plays an active role in BC's library community currently chairing the Council of Post-Secondary Library Directors and the AskAway Advisory Committee. Since 2004 he has served on the Steering Committee of the BC Electronic Library Network chairing it for two years. He has been Treasurer of the British Columbia Library Association and sat on the Library 2020 Organizing Committee.

Outside of BC Mundle served as President of the Saskatchewan Library Association, Institutional Director for the Canadian Association of College and University Libraries and sat on the National Library of Canada's Resource Sharing Review Working Group. He has delivered papers at conferences in South Africa, Australia, United States and Mexico.

Throughout his career Mundle has had a keen interest in technology, copyright, collection development, labour relations and staff development. He received his MLS (1989) and BA in History (1984) both from the University of British Columbia.

Four campuses—Richmond, Surrey, Cloverdale and Langley—offer a comprehensive range of sought-after programs, including business, liberal arts and science, design, health, trades and technology, apprenticeships, horticulture, and academic and career advancement. Over 17,500 students annually have a choice from over 200 programs, including bachelor's degrees, associate degrees, diplomas, certificates and citations.
