Kwantlen students host second annual endowment fundraiser

Metro Vancouver, BC – (February 28, 2012) – On March 23, a group of students from Kwantlen Polytechnic University is working to make higher education even more accessible.

The group, the President's Ambassadorial Team (PAT) is hosting their 2nd Annual Endowment Fundraiser to establish a $20,000 scholarship trust.

"As Kwantlen students, we believe in the importance of higher education; the establishment of this endowment fund demonstrates this," says Andrea Danyluk, fundraiser co-chair and senior PAT member. "We want to help deserving students who are passionate about achieving a higher education, and who are dedicated to making a mark in their community."

The event, which will be held at Fraser Downs Casino & Racetrack in Cloverdale, includes a buffet dinner and silent auction. The PAT is currently looking for silent auction items to help them attain their fundraising goal.

Once this goal is reached, the fund will pay an annual $1,000 scholarship to a Kwantlen student who displays academic excellence and demonstrates leadership within the university and the community.

Kwantlen's PAT is comprised of 20 students who not only excel academically, but believe strongly in community involvement. The team works out of the Office of the President to promote education events and to volunteer with local organizations for the betterment of the community.
