Kwantlen students Bjorn Jivung and Mariko Tsuruoka, both from MAND 2201, participated in the 2012 BC 'Chinese Bridge' Mandarin Speech Contest (Non-Heritage – Beginner category) held at BCIT Downtown Campus. Maggie Lam from MAND 1100 participated in the Cantonese category. Bjorn beat contestants from the 3 big Universities as well as from other institutions to win first place! He received a plaque, a cash prize, and a scholarship for studying in China. Mariko also did well, coming fourth in the competition. Congratulations to all three contestants!
