The Modern Languages Department and the Office of International Students and Scholars held a forum on global competencies and field schools for faculty at Kwantlen.  The Forum highlighted some of the current thinking about global competencies in the context of post-secondary learning. The Associate VP of International, Stuart McIlmoyle, was the opening keynote speaker. Diane Purvey, the Dean of Faculty of Arts, and Sandra Schinnerl, the Director of International Programs and Exchange, talked about global competencies and their values. They introduced international experiential learning models.  These opening remarks were followed by a panel discussion. The panel members talked about the field schools they have led or plan to lead. Panelists represented Departments as diverse as Interior Design, History, Modern Languages, Nursing, and Sociology. The forum concluded with an opportunity for questions and discussion about the ways in which the concept of global competencies can be implemented at Kwantlen.
