Parksville.....The KPU Eagles golf team improved upon their home-opener fifth-place standing this past weekend at Tournament 2 in Parksville, BC, hosted by the VIU Mariners at Morningstar Golf Club. The Eagles ended the weekend in third place, behind first-place home team VIU and second-place Camosun College Chargers, which puts the KPU team at fourth-place out of six overall in the PACWEST at the season's halfway point.
Leading the way for KPU was fifth-year veteran, Thomas Rose, Surrey, BC with an overall score of 151 after shooting 76 and 75 on days 1 and 2, respectively. Rose tied for 3rd place on the weekend with Matthew Matheson, Victoria, BC, of the Camosun College Chargers.The Eagles team efforts were rewarded with a third place overall finish on the weekend at 634 with scores of 314 on day 1 and 320 on day 2.

The KPU Eagles Department of Athletics & Recreation enters its 14th season of interuniversity competition. The Eagles are members of the PACWEST conference and play in the Canadian College Athletic Association (CCAA) with 100 student-athletes participating on eight varsity teams in men’s and women’s basketball, soccer, badminton and golf. KPU athletics plays its home games at the Eagles’ Nest (Surrey Campus), Northview Golf & Country Club, Newton Athletic Park, all located in Surrey, BC and the Ace Badminton Centre in Richmond, BC. The Eagles are active in the conference with staff members on various advisory committees and competing to host both provincial and national championships. The student-athletes are mainly from the lower mainland but KPU’s rosters have included student-athletes from North America, South America, Asia and Europe.
