KPU Eagles women's basketball surpass goal, raise $1350 for Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation

Metro Vancouver.....The KPU Eagles department of athletics and recreation, along with the Eagles women's basketball program, thank everyone who supported last Friday night's second annual 'Breast Cancer Awareness Night' to raise funds for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation's BC and Yukon chapter. The Eagles silent auction, t-shirt sales, and game admissions for the night raised $1350 for Breast Cancer research, which surpassed the $1100 goal; the amount raised in the 2014 campaign.The event coincided with KPU's regular season PACWEST CCAA basketball games versus the VIU Mariners.

"This was a tremendous night and a great contribution towards the fight to end breast cancer," stated KPU Eagles athletics and recreation director David Kent, "The women's basketball team and our organizers worked very hard to make this event a success. We would like to thank everyone who came out to donate, who competed to raise our bids, and also to those who came out to support our Eagles basketball programs."

The Eagles will continue to hold this event in the coming years, the next fundraiser will occur in the 2015/16 PACWEST CCAA season. The KPU Eagles Department of Athletics & Recreation enters its 14th season of interuniversity competition. The Eagles are members of the PACWEST conference and play in the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) with 100 student-athletes participating on eight varsity teams in men’s and women’s basketball, soccer, badminton and golf. KPU athletics plays its home games at the Eagles’ Nest (Surrey Campus), Northview Golf & Country Club, Newton Athletic Park, all located in Surrey, BC and the Ace Badminton Centre in Richmond, BC.  The Eagles are active in the conference with staff members on various advisory committees and competing to host both provincial and national championships. The student-athletes are mainly from the lower mainland but KPU’s rosters have included student-athletes from North America, South America, Asia and Europe.
