Surrey, B.C. – It’s everything you wanted to know about post-secondary education in B.C., but were afraid to ask.
Kwantlen Polytechnic University has launched a free monthly series for anyone who is interested in learning more about educational opportunities at KPU. Each information session is free and open to new immigrants, refugees, settlement workers, parents and members of the community at large.
Dubbed the Newcomer Education Series, the sessions are beneficial on their own, or as a great next-step to KPU’s Introduction to Post-Secondary presentations that are ongoing.
Each two-hour session features a guest speaker from a KPU department or faculty. The first hour takes a look at the post-secondary landscape in B.C. Participants will learn the difference between a teaching university and a research university, what a degree is, how students can access financial aid, how to apply for university, what it costs, and more.
The second hour spotlights a more specific topic such as free community adult literacy programs or Canadian language and culture (to be confirmed).
Sessions take place May 25, June 29, July 27 and Aug. 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. in room Main 2801 at KPU’s Surrey campus, 12666 72nd Ave.
