Langley, B.C. – Looking for ways to get involved in your community?
Visit Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) Thursday afternoon to get connected with worthwhile causes and organizations. The KPU Volunteer Expo will feature two dozen community groups and non-profit organizations looking for talented volunteers to help with a variety of causes.
“Volunteers are happier, healthier people who have a meaningful impact on our communities,” said Theresa Voorsluys, KPU student life and development coordinator. “Volunteer opportunities give us ways to explore new paths, utilize our talents and develop new skills. The KPU Volunteer Expo will give guests an opportunity to meet with a variety of representatives and ask questions that lead to a good match.”
Questions like ‘how much time is required’ and ‘what skills do you need’ can help students and community members find a volunteer opportunity that fits. And whether guests are passionate about health, nutrition, youth or the environment, the showcase will have something for everybody.
Everyone is encouraged to attend the public event being held in the west building of KPU Langley (20901 Langley Bypass) on Thursday, Oct. 1 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Local organizations including Gateway of Hope, Langley Literacy Network and Langley Senior Resources Society will be set-up and seeking volunteers, as well as representatives from the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Immigrant Services Society of BC, Big Sisters and many other impactful organizations.
