Richmond, B.C. – BRB Co. Small Batch Brewers (Be Right Back Brewing Company) is proud to host the first annual 'Casks for Kwantlen' charity event in support of student scholarships for Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s (KPU) brewing & brewery operations program.
The fundraiser will start at noon and go until the casks run dry on Saturday, Jan. 23 at BRB Co. Brewery + Eatery at 14200 Entertainment Blvd. in Richmond.
A number of fantastic brews will be featured from BRB Co. Small Batch Brewers, along with entries from Old Abbey Ales, Steamworks, Big Rock Urban Brewery, Dead Frog Brewing, Steel & Oak, Howe Sound Brewing Co., Parallel 49, Deep Cove Brewing and KPU Brewing students. The event will also be supported by a live broadcast on TSN1040's Just Here For The Beer radio show.
The first 100 tickets are available for $20 each at brbco.ca/casks-for-kwantlen and include three 5 oz. beer samples. Additional beer tickets are available during the event for $2 a pour. All proceeds from ticket and beer sales will go toward supporting the Kwantlen Brewing Program Scholarship fund. More tickets may be released in the future, although prices will likely increase.
“We want to support KPU in training the next generation of brewers, and what better way than bringing together the brewing community and beer lovers for a cask ale festival,” said BRB Co. general manager David Chadwick.
“KPU Brewing is fortunate and so proud to have the support of industry partners such as Be Right Back Brewing Co.,” said Elizabeth Worobec, dean of KPU’s Faculty of Science. “Scholarship support for the next generation of brewers and industry professionals we’re training at KPU allows students to focus on their craft.”
