Discover urban farming, tour a state-of-the-art acupuncture lab, and see cutting-edge fashion at Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s (KPU) Richmond campus open house.
KPU’s Richmond campus will be a hub of free, family-friendly activities and entertainment on Friday, Oct. 20 from noon to 3 p.m. The open house coincides with a professional development day for many students across Metro Vancouver, making it an ideal opportunity for interested learners to get a more in-depth look at the university.
“Our open house events always see a great turnout from students who are eager to learn more about our university,” said Dr. Alan Davis, president and vice-chancellor. “Coming to campus and connecting with faculty members, staff, alumni and current students is a fantastic way for individuals to truly see and experience what KPU has to offer.”
Find out what KPU is all about from the experts. Open house guests are invited to speak with representatives from various departments including the future students’ office, academic advising, international, or chat with the Kwantlen Student Association to learn more about student life at KPU from current KPU students.
Guided campus tours of KPU Richmond will run every 30 minutes during the event. In addition to housing the Wilson School of Design, the Richmond campus is also home to the university’s acupuncture lab, supporting the Faculty of Health’s diploma in acupuncture – the first program of its kind to be offered at a public post-secondary institution in B.C. KPU’s sustainable agriculture degree, a program unique to North America, is also based out of the Richmond campus, along with a broad range of courses in academic and career advancement, arts, business, and science and horticulture.
The open house will feature a range of hands-on activities and entertainment for everyone including selfie booths, Lego building, and a huggable Coke machine. Those present can test their luck on the prize wheel or in the money machine and one lucky attendee will also walk away with a tuition waiver worth $500.
The KPU Richmond campus is located at 8771 Lansdowne Rd., Richmond just steps away from SkyTrain’s Lansdowne Station. The event is free and open to the public, but registration is encouraged and can be completed online at kpu.ca/openhouse.
