New degree options, thanks to partnership between KPU and CityU

KPU diploma graduates can now leverage their credentials into a management degree at CityU, thanks to a partnership between the two academic institutions.

Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) and City University of Seattle (CityU) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding that will allow block transfers from the KPU diploma programs in horticulture, environmental protection, computer aided design drafting (CADD) and brewing and brewery operations to CityU’s Bachelor of Arts in Management (BAM).

“While KPU already offers numerous undergraduate degree choices, this new partnership with CityU will give our students yet another option for advancing their careers by parlaying their hard-earned diploma credentials into a management degree,” said Dr. Salvador Ferreras, KPU’s provost and VP, academic.

The BAM degree is intended to provide management basics through an ethical and environmental lens. With curriculum already focused on sustainable resources, practices and design, KPU’s diplomas in horticulture, environmental protection, CADD, and brewing are a natural fit with the BAM degree. The complementary programs will support and help to shape business leaders who are critically responsible for our environment and building healthy communities.

“If you need to know how to read a financial statement, market a service, understand hiring and labour-relations issues, and you want to manage in a fair and ethical way, the BAM is for you,” said Dr. Arden Henley, VP and principal of CityU’s Canadian programs. “Perhaps you have a two-year diploma and have progressed to a supervisory position, the BAM is for you.”

KPU is hosting information sessions on the following diploma programs and will address how the credentials can then be applied toward CityU’s BAM degree.
