Every fall, Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) celebrates Thrive Month — a series of events and workshops that take place at each campus throughout October.
The activities focus on the health and well-being of students, who may be feeling stressed and anxious about their studies.
“We really want to spread the word about how important it is to focus on your health,” says Megan Matthews, Manager, Student Health Promotion, at KPU.
This is the ninth year KPU has celebrated Thrive Month. The initiative began as a few days in October, but now offers events for students, staff, and faculty throughout the entire month.
“Students want opportunities to have social connection on campus. We’re aiming to provide social events and opportunities to learn,” says Matthews.
This year, 23 Thrive events took place, including Wellness Resource Fairs, Bath Bomb Workshops and Wellness Walks. Departments throughout KPU are invited to organize their own events with support from Student Health Promotion.
