ZTC Form

FAQs about the webform

What makes a course ZTC?

To be considered ZTC, your course must have zero required textbook costs. You can achieve this by,

  • having no required textbook,
  • assigning open educational resources (OER), such as an open textbook,
  • assigning KPU Library resources that are free for students,
  • assigning instructor-created resources, such as instructor notes or other resources posted on Moodle,
  • assigning free online resources.

Sections may be included in the ZTC if a commercial textbook is optional or if students have the option to purchase a print copy of an open textbook (as long as this is not required).

Courses are NOT ZTC if they,

  • require students to pay for a lab manual,
  • require students to pay to access a homework system.

Do I have to complete the webform every semester?

Yes, a webform must be submitted each semester. This process ensures that students have up-to-date information about which courses will not require them to purchase a textbook.

Do I reply to the email after I've filled out the form?

No, filling out the webform is all that's needed.

Do I have to complete the webform if the entire program is ZTC?

Yes, please complete the webform so that we are able to capture additional information about the ZTC category of your courses and which open resources (if any) you will be using in your course.

Thank you for taking the time to share the Zero Textbook Cost (ZTC) status of your classes with us.
