The North American Network of Science Labs Online (NANSLO), a collaboration between postsecondary institutions in the U.S. and Canada, seeks to construct a network of remote web-based science labs. The goal of this project is to enable online and remote students enrolled in critical first-year gatekeeper courses with labs (biology, chemistry, and physics) to access modern laboratory instrumentation. The original remote lab was constructed at North Island College, a member of the BCcampus consortium in British Columbia. The initial phase of this project sought to determine the mobility and universality of the project by replicating remote labs created in Canada at the Colorado Community College System. This session includes an online demonstration of several lab activities, followed by discussion of our challenges, successes, and plans for future expansion.
