Purity Law 500th Anniversary

Join KPU Brewing and 13 other Fraser Valley craft breweries on Saturday, April 23 to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the beer Purity Law of 1516!

The Purity Law, also known as 'Reinheitsgebot' or the German Purity Law, was created 500 years ago to ensure that beer contained only the highest quality ingredients. The goal was to protect the public from drinking poor qualty beer and was the first (and oldest) food safety law!

KPU Brewing will be celebrating the Purity Law 500th Anniversary by collaborating with local Fraser Valley craft breweries to create a 'Fraser Valley Craft Beer Passport' and opening its doors to the public for tours and tastings on April 23 from 12:00-3:00 pm. Be sure to pick up a 'Fraser Valley Craft Beer Passport' at the KPU Brewing Lab starting April 20 and check out all the participating craft breweries (listed below).
