Michael Miller
Dipl. (Bus. Admin. | UFV); Dipl. (Brewing | KPU)Michael completed his Business Administration Diploma at the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV), then followed his passion for craft beer and completed the KPU Brewing and Brewery Operations Diploma.
After graduating from the KPU Brewing program, Michael honed his skills as the lead brewer at Bomber Brewing in Vancouver. He shares his knowledge of operating a production brewery with students, teaching them that every choice in the brewing schedule has an impact, and is an important part of problem-solving and making daily decisions in a commercial brewery.
He's passionate about supporting students to be successful in the program and how all of their learning is connected — each brew is dynamic and needs to be carefully managed from the chemistry pH to the microbiology of the yeast cell growth, to sensory analysis for the quality and taste of a beer, to packaging and selling the beer.
Michael loves how the craft beer industry is cooperative and breweries support each other and foster community though sharing information, hosting events and teaming up for collaboration brews.
His advice to students is always keep learning, keep networking and talking with other brewers, and stay curious because brewing is a science and there are talented folks doing some fascinating research in the beer world.
When he’s not teaching or working in the KPU brewery, you’ll find Michael hanging out with other brewers and sipping a traditional lager or Farm Country Brewing Pilsner.
