Olga Mikova, lab instructor, KPU Brewing

Olga completed her Bachelor of Science (Applied Mathematics) from Moscow State University (MSU) in Russia and her diploma in Brewing and Brewery Operations at Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU).

After graduating from KPU, Olga spent over two years as the Quality Control Manager at Four Winds Brewing in Delta, one of the largest craft breweries in BC, where her problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and level of excellence shone through.

Olga is most passionate about the technology side of brewing, including yeast bio-engineering and using predictive data analysis to make informed decisions and optimize beer production.

When she’s not busy teaching or collaborating with instructors, Olga enjoys Pilsners and light, fruity ales like Four Winds' Huftgold German Pilsner or Fair Isle's Lora Farmhouse Ale.

Her advice for new brewing grads at the start of their career: ‘Never stop learning, be creative and don't forget to have some fun at industry events!’
