Job Description

The Kombucha Brewery Assistant & Canning Line Operator will play a key role in the day-to-day operations of our brewery, ensuring that production processes run smoothly, efficiently, and safely. This position is perfect for someone enthusiastic about fermentation, has an eye for detail, and enjoys working in a fast-paced production environment. The role involves both hands-on brewing tasks and operating the canning line to ensure our kombucha is canned and packaged with the highest standards of quality.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Kombucha Brewing Support: Assist with brewing, fermentation, and blending processes under the supervision of the Brew Master. Prepare ingredients (tea, sugar, cultures, etc.) for brewing and assist with brewing equipment setup. Monitor fermentation processes, including temperature, time, and flavour development. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of brewing equipment, fermentation tanks, and production areas. Track inventory of ingredients and supplies, and assist in ordering new materials as needed.
  • Canning Line Operation: Operate and monitor the canning line equipment, ensuring proper filling, sealing, labelling, and packaging of kombucha cans. Perform quality control checks, ensuring cans are free from defects and filled to proper levels. Troubleshoot and resolve any issues with the canning line, minimizing downtime. Maintain accurate production records, including batch numbers, production dates, and quality control data. Perform routine maintenance and cleaning on canning line equipment to ensure it remains in optimal working condition. 
  • General Brewery Support: Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment. Assist with loading/unloading ingredients and finished product. Assist with deliveries and shipments when necessary. Participate in team meetings and provide input on improving efficiency and product quality.

 

Experience:

 

  • Prior experience in a brewery, kitchen, or food production environment is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience operating machinery or production equipment is a plus.
  • Knowledge of fermentation processes or kombucha brewing is a bonus but not essential. 
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes and protocols.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team. 
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues and maintain a solution-oriented mindset. 
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment. 
  • Basic math skills for inventory tracking and production records. 
  • Willingness to learn and grow in the craft beverage industry. 
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. 
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, kneel, and perform repetitive tasks. 
  • Comfortable working in a hot and sometimes noisy environment.
