As part our Cultivation team, our Apprentice Grower will support irrigation, nutrient management, and environmental conditions to ensure crop health and quality. You are a proactive team player, committed to maintaining high cultivation standards, aligned with Pure Sunfarms’ focus on premium cannabis production. You will assist with crop care, fertilizer inventory, and pest management, contributing to our operational excellence.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Irrigation and Fertilizer Management Monitor daily electrical conductivity (EC) and pH levels in the irrigation system to ensure optimal water quality and plant health, contributing to the overall efficiency and growth of crops.
- Assist with fertilizer mixing and monitor tank levels to ensure proper nutrient delivery, leading to balanced plant nutrition and supporting crop vitality.
- Conduct monthly fertilizer inventory counts and document usage to maintain accurate stock levels, supporting continuous cultivation operations without interruptions.
- Collect weekly water samples to monitor and adjust water quality, ensuring consistency in plant care.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization in irrigation and grow rooms to maintain a safe and productive work environment, supporting operational efficiency and compliance with safety standards.
- Pest and Climate Control Monitor for pests and diseases, documenting findings and addressing issues to maintain a healthy crop environment, minimizing loss and improving crop quality.
- Assist with mixing and applying pest control products as needed, ensuring effective pest management practices are followed.
- Recognize and manage the removal of diseased plants to prevent the spread of disease, maintaining overall crop health. Understand and assist with climate control systems, ensuring the optimal growing environment is maintained for crops.
- Perform data entry for plant inventory tracking to support accurate record-keeping and inventory management.
- Crop Work and Grower Support Perform crop work in the greenhouse, such as pruning and trimming, to support the health and development of plants, leading to higher yields and better-quality crops.
- Assist with training new crop laborers and monitor the quality of their work to ensure adherence to Pure Sunfarms’ cultivation standards, contributing to team efficiency and crop quality.
- Maintain overall greenhouse cleanliness, contributing to a safe workspace and minimizing contamination risks to crops.
- Perform weekly plant registrations to assist growers in tracking crop progress, ensuring all plants are properly documented for growth and maintenance activities.
- Assist in setting up and documenting crop trials, which contributes to process improvements and innovation within the cultivation team.

This is an on-site role, working in or supporting operations and working collaboratively with cross-functional teams across the business.
YOUR STORY

- Your Experience Degree in Horticulture or a related field is an asset. 2+ years of experience in an agricultural or cultivation environment.
- Your Approach & Strengths Strong communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Basic to intermediate proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Willingness to learn and work with greenhouse environmental control systems.
- Interest in greenhouse climate control software and electronic systems for crop management (exposure to Priva is an asset).
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the physical and operational demands of the role.
- Dedication to maintaining high cultivation standards and contributing to the team’s overall success.
- Physical ability to stand and walk for long hours and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must have the ability to maintain and pass an RCMP criminal record check and obtain a security clearance.
