Our Parks, Recreation and Culture Department is looking for seasonal Labourers to work in the Horticulture division on a temporary full-time basis from March 2025 to November 2025. This opportunity offers full-time hours with the possibility of re-call in the following year. Duties and responsibilities of Labourers working in the Horticulture division include, but are not restricted to:
- Planting bulbs, annuals, and shrubs
- Weeding garden beds
- Pruning
- Grass cutting
- Grass edging
Performing related duties as required
Experience & Skills:
- Completion of high school graduation; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- The position requires knowledge and skill in the methods, techniques, materials, tools, and equipment used in horticulture maintenance work.
- Related education is an asset, landscaping and horticulture landscape experience, as well as hands-on experience with related tools and equipment is required.
- This position involves continuous heavy physical work in all weather conditions.
- The ability to maintain a very high standard of work is critical for success in this role.
- Other desired attributes include excellent teamwork skills and the ability to communicate effectively, particularly when dealing with the public.
A valid Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia is required.
Pay Range (hourly or salary): $32.91/hour + Benefits
Schedule: 80 hours biweekly; Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
