Official Contest Rules and Regulations

KWANTLEN POLYTECHNIC UNIVERSITY – SCIENCE RENDEZVOUS CONTEST


Participation in the Science Rendezvous Contest (the "Contest") constitutes the entrant's full and unconditional agreement with and acceptance of these Official Contest Rules and Regulations (“Official Rules”) and all decisions of Kwantlen Polytechnic University (“Kwantlen” or the “Sponsor”) and its agents, which are final on all matters relating to the Contest.
 

1. ELIGIBILITY

Entrants must be a resident of BC, aged 19 or older. All provincial, municipal, and federal laws and regulations apply. Kwantlen Polytechnic University faculty and staff are not eligible, nor are any of the owners or employees of Science Rendezvous’ Science Partners or Science Marketplace vendors. Family members of faculty, staff, Science Rendezvous Partners, and Science Marketplace vendors are eligible.
 

2. HOW TO ENTER

To enter, entrants must pick up an event map during Science Rendezvous at KPU Langley, 20901 Langley Bypass, Langley on Saturday, May 7, 2016 and collect a minimum of eight (8) stamps by completing various activities indicated on the map before 4:00pm PST to receive one (1) entry (each an “Entry”) into the Contest Draw.

Entrants may enter the contest one of two ways:

Complete the contest ballot on the backside of the event map and submit it to a Science Rendezvous volunteer at the Welcome Tent in the courtyard of Science Rendezvous at KPU Langley, 20901 Langley Bypass, Langley

Or

Enter online via tablet at the Welcome Tent in the courtyard of Science Rendezvous at KPU Langley, 20901 Langley Bypass, Langley.
 

One (1) Entry per person will be considered valid for entry into the Contest Draw.

 

3. WINNER SELECTION

Winners (each a “selected entrant”) will be drawn randomly from all eligible entries at 2:00pm on Thursday, May 12, 2016 (the “Contest Draw”) in the Faculty of Science Office, room 1040, KPU Langley, 20901 Langley Bypass, Langley.

Odds of winning depend on the number of valid eligible Entries received. No purchase is necessary in connection with the Contest.


4. PRIZE CLAIM CONDITIONS

The selected entrants of the Entrants drawn pursuant to the Contest Draw (each a “selected entrant”) will be notified at 2:00pm PST on Thursday, May 12, 2016 by the email address provided on the contest entry ballot at Science Rendezvous at KPU Langley, 20901 Langley Bypass, Langley. Selected entrants will have 10 business days from notification to claim their prize. In the event of a dispute as to the identity of the person who submitted any Entry, the authorized account holder of the emai l address associated with the selected entrant’s ballot will be deemed to be the selected entrant in question. In order to claim their Prize, selected entrants must present themselves, with valid picture I.D., at the Faculty of Science Office, Room 1040, at the KPU Langley Campus, 20901 Langley Bypass, Langley between 9:30am and 4:00pm PST, Monday – Friday.


Before being declared a “Winner”, individuals must first correctly answer without assistance of any kind, whether mechanical or otherwise, a time-limited mathematical skill-testing question to be administered at the time the selected individual presents his/herself at the Faculty of Science Office. The winners will also be required to complete a written declaration and prize release form, releasing the Sponsor and all of their respective directors, officers, owners, partners, shareholders, employees, agents, representatives, successors and assigns from any liability in connection with the Contest or the use or misuse or possession of any Prize. Return of winner notification as undeliverable, inability to reach the selected individual, failure to provide proof of eligibility, release documents, or other required documentation (if requested) in a timely manner, failure to correctly answer the skill-testing question, or other non-compliance with these Official Rules may result in disqualification, forfeiture of the Prize and, at Sponsor’s sole discretion, selection of an alternate eligible entrant for the forfeited Prize, who will be subject to disqualification in the same manner.


5. DEADLINES

Contest begins on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 11:00 am PST and ends on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 4:00 pm PST.


6. PRIZING

There are twenty-five (25) prizes to be awarded in connection with the Contest (collectively, the “Prizes”)


Subject to and in accordance with the Prize Claim Conditions outlined below, each winner will be awarded one (1) of the following Prizes.

  • 1x $100 KPU Brewing Lab Tour & Tastings for up to 8 people
  • 2x $15 KPU Athletics Bobble Head Figurine, each having an approximate value of $15
  • 2x $60 Hanging Flower Basket from the KPU School of Horticulture, each having an approximate value of $60
  • 2x $77 Science World Passes for 4 (2 adults and 2 children), each having an approximate value of $77
  • 3x $5.25 KPU Melville School of Business Tumblers, each having an approximate value of $5.25
  • 1x $10 Tim Horton’s Gift Card
  • 10x $4 TELUS Stuffed Snow Leopard Toys, each having an approximate value of $4
  • 4x $4 Faculty of Science Stainless Steel Water Bottles, each having an approximate value of $4


Total approximate value of all prizes: $455.75


No cash substitutions. Prizes cannot be selected and will be awarded in random order. Prizes must be accepted as awarded.


7. PERSONAL INFORMATION

Kwantlen and its authorized agents will collect, use and disclose the personal information you provide when you enter the Contest for the purposes of administering the Contest and Prize fulfillment. Such personal information is collected under the authority of and will be protected, used and disclosed in compliance with British Columbia’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.


By entering the Contest, you authorize Kwantlen Polytechnic University and its advertising and promotional agencies and their respective employees or other representatives, to broadcast, publish and otherwise use your Submission, your name, photograph, image, statements regarding the Contest and/or the Prize, and (or) voice for publicity purposes relating to the Contest, without any form of remuneration, approval or notice.


8. RELEASE

By entering this Contest, you agree to indemnify, release and hold harmless, Kwantlen Polytechnic University, its employees and its agents from and against any losses, damages, rights, claim or cause of action of any kind arising, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, out of your breach of the Official Rules, the use of your Submission in the manner set forth in these Official Rules, use of the Prize or otherwise resulting from your participating in the Contest.


9. MISCELLANEOUS

Kwantlen Polytechnic University reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel or modify the Contest if fraud, technical failures, or anyone’s actions destroys the integrity of the Contest, or if factors beyond the Sponsor’s control make it impossible for the Sponsor to administer this Contest as planned. Entrants who have not complied with these Official Rules are subject to disqualification. The Prize is not transferable and must be accepted as awarded with no substitutions in cash or otherwise, except at Sponsor’s sole discretion.  Sponsor reserves the right to substitute an alternate prize of equivalent or greater value if a Prize cannot be awarded as described. The Prizes will only awarded pursuant to the Prize Claim Conditions outlined above. By entering this Contest, you agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of the Sponsor. All decisions of the Sponsor and/or Committee are final and binding in all matters relating to this Contest.
