With the support of the Student Research and Innovation Grant (SRIG), I have been able to explore a unique research opportunity in genomics and bioinformatics. Especially in working with the Applied Genomics Centre at KPU, I was enthusiastic about the prospect of student-led research and what this grant would enable me to do in my education; and it has more than delivered. This grant has given me the chance to immediately apply the skills I have learned from my coursework while offering a challenging opportunity to strive further and experiment with new methods. This experience has proven immediately invaluable as I prepare for the next steps of my education and career in research.
