June 17-July 19, 2024

Are you an Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, Inuit) student at KPU? Join a 5-week hybrid global learning experience between Indigenous students at KPU and Edith Cowan University (ECU), Australia.

The program takes place virtually for the first 3 weeks, then in person for the remaining 2 weeks in Perth, Australia and Vancouver, Canada. Students will spend one week in each location, hosted by the two institutions.

For the first 3 weeks, you will be part of a cohort in 1.5-hour synchronous virtual sessions and hear from Elders, scholars, and other Indigenous students at KPU and on the other side of the globe.

For the last 2 weeks of the program, you will first head to Perth to join your classmates on a 6 day cultural visit, hearing from Indigenous academics and exploring local historic sites. Then, you’ll return to Vancouver with the group, and spend another 6 days visiting key First Nations cultural offices locally as well as join in on a day trip to Squamish.

This non-credit program will be enriched by peer-to-peer engagement, which explores the similarities and differences between First Nations People in Australia and Indigenous people (First Nations, Inuit, Métis) in Canada.

Go global: Enrich your university experience with an opportunity to enhance cross-cultural sensitivity, engage in an international experience while doing so in the comfort of your own home, and dive deeper into topics around Indigenous people around the world.

This initiative is a collaborative project between KPU’s Indigenous Services for Students and KPU International.
