Appreciating Teaching Excellence

Dates: October 13-14, 2022

About the event: Appreciating Teaching Excellence is a two-day series of “mini” events coordinated by the Teaching & Learning Commons to bring together KPU faculty and partners to celebrate innovations in teaching excellence through the pandemic. This event will be an opportunity to learn from one another, to connect with your colleagues across KPU beyond the boundaries of postsecondary traditions, and to invite a more open and flexible approach to the sharing of ideas and values.

Celebrating Teaching Innovation: A PechaKucha Sharing

    Date: October 13, 2022
    Time: 4:00-7:00pm
    Location: Grassroots Café, Cedar Building

Celebrating Teaching Innovation will celebrate the creative and innovative work of Teaching & Learning grant recipients with a PechaKucha storytelling format, and showcase a diverse range of projects from the Teaching & Learning Innovation Fund (TLIF), Open Educational Resources (OER) Grant, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDG) Open Pedagogy Fellowships.

Over the past two years, we have seen innovative projects and research, incredible creativity, and scholarly excellence through the work of our Teaching & Learning grant recipients. This year, the Teaching & Learning Commons is embarking on a new journey to build better foundations of trusting relationships and dialogue at KPU, and we hope to begin by shining a light on our colleagues who have illuminated the definitions of “teaching excellence.”

This event is invitation-only due to space restrictions. Recordings will be made available for public viewing.

    Teaching and Learning Partner Spotlight

    Date #1: October 13, 2022
    Time: 12:00-1:30pm
Location: Surrey Conference Centre (Cedar 1205)

    Date#2: October 14, 2022
    Time: 12:00-1:30pm
Location: Surrey Conference Centre (Cedar 1205)

At Teaching & Learning, we build connections through active intentional partnering to advance the Academic Plan 2023 goal of teaching excellence. We are hosting a Partner Spotlight to showcase some of the special project initiatives from these connections, and to showcase how teaching excellence is supported through an extensive network of partnerships that connect us together. This is a lunch and learn event to highlight their transformative impact both within and beyond the KPU classroom.

The Partner Spotlight is an opportunity to highlight the often invisible work and innovation that are forged at the heart of our KPU partnerships, and to engender further teaching excellence.

We will be joined by our KPU leaders, Deans, and Associate Deans.

All faculty are welcome to register to attend these presentations.

Recordings will be made available for public viewing.

At 10:30am, we will open this event to all faculty members.

We hope that this event can be reflective of our growth, as well as a safe opportunity for you to exchange ideas, inspire one another, build connections and bridges across faculties, and to learn how we can support your needs better. We want this to be an open space for you to just mingle, relax, and have some light refreshments on us.
