Advancing global learning: Building a Better World Together through Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL)

Facilitators: Sam Kirk, Nishan Perera

This Community of Practice (CoP) at KPU aims to enhance faculty capacity for COIL. This innovative approach to learning connects classrooms globally, enriching students’ global awareness and intercultural communications skills from the comfort and ease of their Canadian classrooms.

In this inclusive space, faculty, staff, and students share their COIL experiences, highlighting how these initiatives improve student learning and enhance teaching practices. Through iterative innovation, faculty explore classroom management strategies and new technologies that foster engagement as well as sharing ongoing projects, research and initiatives. This collaboration promotes a deeper understanding of their disciplines from an international perspective, driving positive change within KPU and beyond enriching educational experience for all learners. The CoP provides an opportunity to explore challenges, encourage partnerships, and drive positive change.

Why COIL?
Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) brings the world into the classroom, enabling students from diverse backgrounds and countries to engage in shared learning experiences. COIL creates a global dialogue on critical topics, fostering student engagement in co-created projects that enhance learning and collaboration across borders.

Join us in collaborating for global impact, exchanging ideas, and working together to build a better future for everyone.
