Curriculum Mapping: Detailed Asynchronous Resource

This asynchronous resource is intended to be a comprehensive guide introducing and discussing the creation and use of curriculum maps in the post-secondary environment. This resource is intended to be of use to those who are both experienced and novices in the creation, revision and use of curriculum maps. It will address the benefits and challenges of having a curriculum map, identify what is involved in curriculum mapping and demonstrate steps to construct a comprehensive Curriculum Map. It is intended to be used in an asynchronous manner and, it will proceed in a very granular manner introducing and exploring component topics in detail.

This resource is not intended for those who are developing curriculum maps for the KPU Program Review Process. Please refer to this compressive resource  ”Curriculum Review for Program Review” for guidance to develop a “Compressed Curriculum Map” as per the guidance provided by the Office of Planning and Accountability.

The Teaching and Learning Commons offers in-person workshops to assist faculty to develop curriculum maps for their programs. By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the components that make up a curriculum map
  • Identify the process to develop a curriculum map.
  • Describe means of validating curriculum maps.
