When I came here from Mexico I was a little bit shy. I didn’t know much English. Starting in ELS at KPU was awesome. We began working in English right away and the instructors were very helpful. If you want to learn English you can’t just practice having a conversation. You have to study reading, writing, and speaking. There’s students here from all over the world and you’re learning together, helping each other.

I've always loved literature and writing. I knew I wanted to major in English to develop my writing skills. I was offered an entrance scholarship to KPU, which covered my first two and a half semesters. My educational experience was completely customizable and personalized. There is a support system at KPU to help you succeed. There is a thriving community that you can access if you reach out.

I found my true calling in entrepreneurial leadership. My instructors would latch onto my ideas and I realized I could take a step back to get a larger view of business. KPU prepared me well for my own entrepreneurial journey. I started Kitply out of my parents' basement and now we're doing business nationally and internationally. It's important to me to give back to society. Creating opportunities for others is my way of paying forward what KPU gave to me.

KPU came highly recommended as a place to study interior design. I had a great experience here and made a lot of meaningful connections with peers and faculty. The friendships made at KPU last a lifetime, and one day it may lead to employment like it did for me. I’m very proud to have been on the project team for the new Wilson School of Design building. It’s the cherry on top of my career.

I grew up in Romania and went to nursing school there. I knew it was my calling. The re-entry program at KPU appealed to me because the classes are led by instructors with real experience and there’s hands-on learning opportunities and lab experiences weekly. Everything I learned about the program was encouraging and a testament to its success. There’s numerous resources available and so much support to help students succeed.

When I was preparing to return to my education, I applied to several universities. I chose KPU, ultimately, as most of my previous credits could be transferred and there was a community feeling here. I’m amazed by the encouragement and support I’ve received in my journey at KPU. People from every sphere of the university, whether they’re faculty, staff, or students are truly inspiring, helpful, and they motivate others. If you bring your thought to light, KPU will make it an action.

Welding, to me, fulfills a desire to build. KPU is really involved in the welding community. It’s not just a program and then you’re done. It’s a home base to come back to and a welcoming place to return throughout your career. Every experience you have at KPU is helping prepare you for the next. The faculty as a whole becomes your support network. It’s such a good feeling when you’ve done something better than you thought you would be able to.
