English Assessments

You should take the English Placement Test (EPT) if:

You completed BC English 12 but did not achieve a C+. 

AND

You are confident that your reading and writing skills are appropriate for university-level courses.

This test can allow you to meet KPU's English Proficiency requirements, depending on your results. 

Accuplacer: English test for admissions

The Accuplacer test can be used to satisfy English Proficiency requirements for admission to KPU. This is a computer-based test with multiple choice and one short writing piece. It takes 2.5 hours to complete.

You should take the English Upgrading Assessment if:

You wish to complete the BC Adult Graduation Diploma (Adult Dogwood).

OR

You completed BC English 12 but did not achieve a C+. 

AND

You speak English fluently but need to improve your writing and reading skills.

This test can place you into the appropriate level of English Upgrading in the Pathway to Undergraduate Studies.

You should take an approved English language proficiency test if:

English is not your primary language.

OR

Your education was in another language.

These tests can place you in appropriate English Language Studies courses, or they can also allow you to meet KPU's English Proficiency Requirements, depending on your results.
