Adult Dogwood: BC Adult Graduation Diploma
Description
The BC Adult Graduation Diploma program, an adult Grade 12 equivalency, enables adult learners to complete their BC Ministry of Education secondary school graduation requirements in order to enter the workforce or post-secondary studies.
Courses required for completion are offered in a semester-based format, however courses at the fundamental to advanced levels can be taken in a continuous intake (self-paced) format.
Students completing the Adult Graduation Diploma can satisfy graduation requirements by using:
- courses taken in high-school;
- transferable courses taken at other post-secondary institutions;
- KPU Qualifying Studies courses (except MATQ 1093 and CHEQ 1094); and
- undergraduate-level courses (may be applied towards other programs).
Note: Courses with an qualifying studies designation are tuition free for domestic (Canadian citizens and permanent residents) students. International tuition rates apply for international students.
Program Admission Requirements
In addition to KPU's General university admission requirements including the university preparatory-level English Proficiency Requirement, the following program admission requirements apply.
- All applicants, except those referred by instructors, must take assessments in English and math to ensure appropriate placement in the program. Assessments are booked through Student Enrolment Services (kpu.ca/ses).
Note: The province requires that students in this program be 18 years of age or older on the first day of classes. Applicants who are 18 should seek admission through the "underage admission" category; applicants who are 19 years of age or older should seek admission through the "mature student" category.
Program Requirements
To complete the Adult Graduation Program, students (19 or older) must complete five courses in the post‑secondary system. Courses and credits can be counted from KPU and/or the BC School System. At least three of the five courses must be completed (directly, or through PLA) after enrolling in the Adult Graduation Program.
