Music: Certificate
Description
The Music Certificate (Foundation) is a one-year, two-semester program totaling 30 credits. By giving a thorough grounding in the essential elements of music history theory, aural musicianship and rhythm skills, and performance, the program provides a firm base upon which to build musical skills. A core curriculum is supplemented by music and/or academic electives chosen by the student in consultation with a faculty advisor.
Program Admission Requirements
In addition to Kwantlen's General university admission requirements including the undergraduate-level English Proficiency Requirement, the following program admission requirements apply.
- Students seeking entrance to the Certificate program need to show keen interest in music, ability on their instrument, and potential for development.
- They must be able to read music on their instrument
These requirements are determined at an audition and interview, held in April and May. Late auditions may be held in August, subject to seat availability. Applications for the Music Certificate program will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis with placement into the appropriate ensemble and private instruction by interview and audition.
