AMCH 1101 cr-1
Mechanical Shop Tools and Equipment
This theory course introduces the automotive mechanics student
to the safety practices, hand tools and basic equipment of the
modern automotive repair shop. AMCH 1101 is the first course in
a pre-apprentice program which is recognized as equivalent to first
year apprenticeship technical training.
AMCH 1102 cr-6
Automotive Engine Theory and Repair
This is an extensive course in the theory and maintenance of the
automotive engine. The student will remove, dismantle, repair,
reassemble and install an engine while studying the design and
function of most major systems.
This course explores the fundamentals of electricity, magnetism
and semi-conductors with an emphasis on applications in the
modern automobile. Charging circuits, starter circuits, batteries and
instruments are covered in theory and practice.
This course trains the student in the principles, testing and
servicing of conventional, electronic and magneto ignition systems.

Automatic Transmissions
This course is an introduction to the principles of fluid
transmissions and torque converters.
AMCH 1108 cr-2
The Manual Transmission and Drive Line
This final course in the Automotive Mechanics program trains the
student in analysis, repair and replacement of manual
transmissions, clutches and other components of the drive train.
