Foundations Training
OVERVIEW
Are you interested in attaining a new skill or have not secured employment in the trade of your choice then you should consider taking a Foundations Program. Completing a Foundation Program will provide you with the necessary entry-level skills to be a productive worker within your chosen trade.
We offer foundations training in the following areas:
- Automotive Service Technician (30 weeks)
- Carpentry/Building Construction (24 weeks)
- Masonry (21 weeks)
- Metal Fabrication (23 weeks)
- Millwright/Industrial Mechanic (24 weeks)
- Parts and Warehousing (20 weeks)
- Plumbing (21 weeks

HOW TO APPLY

Individuals with no previous trade training are able to register in a Foundation program provided the entrance requirements are met (refer to specific program for requirements).

Registration confirmation is determined by the applicant paying a commitment fee of $250.00 and the remainder of the tuition fees thirty days prior to the start date of the class.
PROGRAM COMPLETION
Students are awarded Statements of Completion, Citation or Certificate credentials upon completion of a Foundation program.
Kwantlen Polytechnic University will forward student documentation regarding program completion to the Industry Training Authority (www.itabc.ca). This documentation will allow the ITA to award credit for the designated level(s) of training. In most cases, the completion of a Foundation program will apply towards credit of the first level of technical training requirement within an apprenticeship.
Upon successful completion of a Foundations Program, it is the responsibility of the student to search for employment in their industry of choice, once secured please apply directly to the ITA for a trade worker ID number.
