Good Beginnings Course
Description
Learn the basic skills and knowledge to provide children with a nurturing, quality, safe, healthy and stimulating environment.
This course is an introduction to starting and operating a family childcare. The 30 hour course covers important topics in a child's development, behaviour guidance, health and safety requirements. As well as skills in managing the business (licensing requirements), policies and procedures of providing child care in the home business setting. Emphasis is placed on getting started, setting up for a quality environment and working with children.
Career Opportunities
The Childcare Program is recognized by Fraser Health Region Licensing Department and Western Canada Family Childcare Association of BC. This part-time program prepares you to work effectively with young children and to set up a childcare business within the home environment.
Admission Requirements
Regular Kwantlen admission requirements apply. In addition, applicants must have a personal interview with the Program Coordinator.
