An introduction to the brewing process for individuals with little to no brewing experience, providing an engaging intro to the art and science of brewing.
On Day 1, students will begin with a class covering brewery safety and an overview of the brewing process. You'll then participate in a hands-on "water brew" on KPU's Small Brewing Systems—a higher-end version of a home brewing system—offering a practical introduction to brewing equipment and techniques.
On Day 2, students will spend the day brewing a batch of beer, following a recipe provided by the instructors. This hands-on session will offer a deeper dive into the brewing process, allowing students to experience a brew from start to creating wort.
Students are required to dress appropriately while in the brewery wearing CSA-approved footwear (e.g., steel-toed work boots or gum boots), long-sleeve shirts, pants, and safety eyewear, and may be required to wear a face mask. This course is the perfect starting point for anyone interested in homebrewing or just curious about how beer is made!
Registration for this course opens on January 6, 2025.
