Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act
Kwantlen Polytechnic University collects personal information under the authority of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act [RSBC 1996] Chapter 165 (“FIPPA”) and the University Act [RSBC 1996] Chapter 468. Your information is collected to process your registration for continuing education courses and related assessment or administrative purposes.
If you create a new student account or login with your 9-digit Banner Student ID number (as a Returning Student or KPU employee), you consent to our using the personal information you have previously provided to KPU to expedite your registration for the continuing education course(s) you have selected.
Your personal information may be disclosed in accordance with FIPPA to the Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills and Training of BC and Statistics Canada as required for reporting, research and statistical purposes and government agencies as required (i.e. Canada Revenue Agency for tuition tax credits, where applicable).
KPU is bound by FIPPA regulations. Students are therefore responsible for setting up their own accounts, registering themselves into courses they wish to take, withdrawing themselves from courses, and any other actions that students may take concerning their CPS courses. Please note that KPU will not make changes to registrations at the request of employers or other funding agencies: all such requests must originate with students only.
