Universidad del Valle de Atemajac (UNIVA) is one of KPU’s most recently developed partnerships, located in Guadalajara, Mexico. UNIVA has established a successful summer program for visiting faculty from around the world called Verano Global or Global Summer. In 2019 they received 34 professors from countries such as Argentina, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, England, Germany, Ireland, Finland, Peru, Spain, and the USA.
For KPU faculty interested in a short term teaching opportunity during the Summer term and with some financial support, this is a perfect match.
The Global Summer at UNIVA consists of having the visiting professors teach a course in an intensive format for 3-4 weeks during the summer. That is, a class that is normally taught throughout the summer term for a period of 3 months, meeting 4 hours a week, is condensed in the Global Summer Program. In this format, the class is taught for a period of 4 weeks, for 2.45 hours a day, Monday through Friday, and thus, completing the 56 hours of instruction that the class consists of.
