Customized Faculty Global Opportunities

What Is Customized Faculty Mobility?

Customized faculty mobility allows KPU faculty to create opportunities to teach, conduct research or both for 1–4 weeks at a partner university abroad, beyond existing programs. It’s an excellent way to go international, expand your scholarship, and engage in cultural and academic immersion.

These opportunities are tailored on a case-by-case basis, with the support of the Office of Global Engagement and KPU’s global partners. If you’re interested, feel free to reach out—we’d love to discuss your ideas and help make them happen.

Interested in Partner Opportunities?

Sometimes, KPU partner institutions offer existing short-term teaching programs with their own application processes. Be sure to check out the Partner Opportunities for details.

Who Can Take on a Faculty Mobility Opportunity?

Eligibility depends on the specific opportunity. In some cases, faculty must hold regular or non-regular type 2 (NR2) full-time status. All KPU faculty members, with approval from their Dean, are encouraged to connect with the Office of Global Engagement at global.partnerships@kpu.ca and we will work with you to identify the best opportunity for your goals.

Where Can I Go?

KPU has partnerships with 70+ institutions worldwide, giving you plenty of options to choose from!

Have something different in mind? No problem! If your idea doesn’t fit within an existing opportunity, the Global Engagement team is here to help explore possibilities and reach out to potential partner institutions.

What Funding Is Available?

Funding for customized faculty mobility opportunities may be available internally at KPU or externally, from KPU’s partners or other funders. Feel free to reach out to us and we can also advise you on internal or external funding options that could support your proposal.

What Is the Application Deadline?

Since customized faculty global opportunities are arranged individually, there are no strict deadlines. However, we recommend reaching out to the Office of Global Engagement at least 6 months before your intended start date.

How Do I Get Started?

  1. Explore Options
Review our Partnership Database and select 1–3 partner institutions where you’d like to teach and/or conduct research.
  2. Prepare a Proposal
Write a short proposal (1–2 paragraphs) explaining what you’d like to do at the selected institution(s).
  3. Update Your CV
Ensure your CV is up to date (any format is fine).
  4. Submit Your Application
Send the list of your selected institutions, proposal, and CV to global.partnerships@kpu.ca at least 6 months before your planned mobility date.

Once we have this information, we can reach out to the partner institutions on your behalf to gauge their interest in your proposal. We’d be happy to guide you through every step of the process.
