Bowen Island Food Resiliency
The study is a partnership between the Institute for Sustainable Food Systems (ISFS) at Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) and THRIVE Bowen. It encompasses non-land-base and land-based analyses to increase Bowen Island’s food security and resiliency. The main objectives of the study are to:
Assess the current food production capacity on Bowen Island and determine the feasibility of increasing such capacity
Evaluate land sites to determine the suitability of soil-based food production
Provide recommendations on the implementation of food production strategies on available sites
Identify supplementary methods to improve the food production capacity
