The KPU Peer Wellness Team is comprised of KPU students just like you! Our program is student-led and our student volunteers create and implement the different programs and activities that we host.
Peer Wellness Volunteers work as a team to improve social connection among students and promote the importance of positive health and wellness. Peer Wellness Volunteers are expected to volunteer anywhere between 3-5 hours/week which includes hosting drop-in sessions, developing and hosting health and wellness programming, and participating in outreach opportunities, all in collaboration with the other student volunteers.
Peer Wellness Volunteers will also receive training in topics such as: listening effectively, managing crises/responding/referring, acting as an empowered bystander, and honing programming and presentation skills. Volunteers will gain knowledge about health and wellness issues impacting students, improve on skills such as communication and leadership, and connect with other like-minded students and help contribute to a healthy campus culture.
The Peer Wellness program is operated out of the Health Promotion department, which is an extension of Student Affairs.
