Card Access

Where can I get a KPU card or a replacement card?

Cards can be obtained from the library or ordered online at https://www.kpu.ca/library/kpu-card.

Can you authorize me to use a specific space or room?

No, we simply enable card access based on requests from departments, we have no authority to approve space or room usage.

My card does not seem to be working. When I tap it on readers, there are no lights or beeps.

No lights or beeps from ANY card reader means that your card is defective and needs to be replaced.

My card was Lost / Stolen, what do I do?

You can report it here https://www.kpu.ca/reporting-KPUcards and/or e-mail Mark directly to ensure it is deactivated. A new card can be obtained at the library.

Card Access Reader Lights

*We use different models of card readers across all campuses, but these are generally common light codes:

Green: Access Granted.

Red or flashing red/green or red/blue: Access Denied.

Purple / Yellow after card scan: Batteries are nearing end of life.

Single Purple light: Reader is communicating with server.

Alarm/Intrusion System

What happens when an alarm is tripped?

Our monitoring company will receive the alert and notify the appropriate personnel on the specific campus, typically Security or Facilities.

What happens when I press my Panic Button?

The monitoring company will alert security that a panic button has been activated and advise what area that it occurred in.

When should I press my panic button?

When you need assistance from security. If there is a medical or critical emergency, call 9-1-1 first.

How do I get an alarm code?

Your manager or Dean can request alarm codes from Mark Bayrock.
