This program prepares students for employment in the industrial engines & equipment (heavy-duty) parts field. The industrial engines & equipment parts person orders, merchandises and dispenses replacement and repair parts for internal combustion engines, heavy duty equipment, marine and industrial equipment. The handling of parts in this field will be for various types of engines and drive train components for on and off road trucks and equipment as well as, marine power equipment.
As an apprentice you will learn to identify parts and accessories, determine stock numbers and determine prices by referring to detailed catalogues.
Students that are interested in training and working in the industrial engines & equipment (heavy-duty) parts field can access training as a level three industrial engines & equipment apprentice by completing the first two levels of the Parts technical training component to begin with. Completion of the level one Parts technical training component can be acquired either by completing the ELTT Automotive Parts & Light Warehousing program prior to acquiring an apprenticeship or by acquiring employment followed by registering as an industrial engines & equipment apprentice.
Registered apprentices will be responsible for enrolling in scheduled in-school training sessions throughout their apprenticeship. An individual registered in an industrial engines & equipment (heavy-duty) apprenticeship would complete the first two levels of the Parts technical training session before registering in a level 3 industrial engines & equipment technical training session. Industrial engines & equipment has three levels of technical training.
