Program Overview
In this 4+4 Program, students will begin their studies at KPU in the Faculty of Science’s Bachelor of Science, Major in Health Science. After successfully completing four years of undergraduate study at KPU, qualified students who meet the standards of admission at SGU will proceed to Grenada and enter the first year of SGU School of Medicine or SGU’s School of Veterinary Medicine.
Doctor of Medicine (MD): Qualified medical students will be eligible to complete the first two years (2) of medical study in Grenada, or can complete year one (1) of the MD Program at Northumbria University in the UK, year two (2) in Grenada, and the final two (2) years of this combined program in clinical rotations at SGU’s affiliated hospitals in the United States and/or the United Kingdom. Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM): Veterinary students will be eligible to complete the first three (3) years of veterinary study in Grenada and their final clinical year at affiliated veterinary schools in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, or Ireland. Admission Requirement
To be eligible to proceed to the SGU School of Medicine, students must meet the requirement as follows:
- maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) competitive with the incoming class average of 3.4 while enrolled at KPU;
- Obtain a competitive score on the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT). A competitive score is defined as a score within 3 points of the prior term average score at SGU. (The MCAT requirement is waived for international student applications).
- Meet all admission criteria of SGU School of Medicine
To be eligible for entry into the SGU School of Veterinary Medicine, students must meet the following requirement:
- maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) competitive with the incoming class average of 3.2 while enrolled at KPU;
- Obtain a Graduate Record Examination (GRE) score of at least 300
- Meet all admission criteria of SGU School of Veterinary Medicine
Students interested in this pathway degree program can express their intentions anytime during their first three (3) years of study at KPU. Please use the contact info found at the bottom of the page to speak with an SGU representative.
Upon receiving further instructions from SGU’s admission team, interested students will apply to their intended program; SGU application fees will be waived for applicants. Upon receipt of the application, KPU and SGU will consult to select suitable candidates, who meet the standards of KPU and SGU, and formal interviews will be conducted by SGU.
