KPU will be embarking on the presidential search process in early 2024. The search will be conducted in accordance with HR22 – Presidential Search Advisory, Appointment, and Reappointment Policy and Procedure. On this website, you will find updates on matters related to the presidential search once it’s underway.

September 23rd, 2024 Communication - Presidential Search Update

As we embark on a new academic year, I want to take a moment to update you the presidential search process. I am pleased to share that good progress has been made and we are now in the phase of long-listing candidates.

This is a critical stage in our search as navigate through a deep and diverse pool of potential candidates. Our goal is to ensure a thorough and thoughtful process as we look for KPU’s next president.

Please note that while we will continue to work diligently on this important search, the specifics of the search process and candidate details are confidential. As such, this will be the final update until we reach the conclusion of the search. We appreciate your understanding and patience.

I would also like to welcome three new members to the Presidential Search Advisory Committee (PSAC).  Erin Barnes will be replacing Paul Choi as one of the board members.  In addition, Amrit Chahal and Mehtoj Ghuman will be joining the committee as incoming student board members, replacing Aryan Kalia and filling a student vacancy on the PSAC.

May 17th, 2024 Update - Presidential Search Launched

Over the past few months, many employees and students have participated in town hall discussions facilitated by Leaders International, a leading Canadian executive search firm, to help shape the presidential candidate profileThis profile is intended to showcase KPU and define the ideal candidate for the role, which differs from a job description focusing solely on position details. Thank you to everyone who participated in these sessions and provided valuable input as part of this critical process.

 

The search for KPU’s next president has officially been launched. The competition is now live on Leaders International’s webpage and KPU’s Career Centre. Early in the new academic year, the Presidential Search Advisory Committee will convene to review and short list applications. The remainder of this process will unfold throughout the fall semester.


February 23rd, 2024 Update - Presidential Search Advisory Committee named

A Presidential Search Advisory Committee (PSAC) has been established to support the Board of Governors in the search for the next President of KPU. The Board is responsible, in consultation with the university Senate, for the search.

In addition to the Presidential Search Advisory Committee, leading Canadian executive search firm Leaders International is assisting with the search. As mentioned in my last update, Leaders International is conduct town hall meetings throughout February and March to hear views and thoughts on the following topics:
•    Required leadership attributes and experiences
•    Priorities, opportunities, and challenges facing the university over the next five to ten years

Two town hall meetings, one on the Langley campus and a virtual one for students, have been held to date, but there are four more sessions in which you can provide your thoughts. In-person sessions are open to all members of the KPU community, while virtual sessions are intended for specific audience groups. The upcoming sessions are:
•    In-person session at KPU Surrey, open to all: March 5, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Spruce Atrium
•    Virtual session for faculty: March 8, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
•    In-person session at KPU Richmond, open to all: March 13, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in Wilson School of Design room 4900
•    Virtual session for staff and admin: March 18, from 10 a.m. to noon

If you are interested in attending, please save the date for the option that works best for you. No registration is required for the in-person sessions. Please register for the virtual sessions by visiting the following webpage: https://www.kpu.ca/townhall/rsvp. The meeting link will be sent out two days in advance. 

I encourage you to take part in the consultation process and share your views. Leaders International will consolidate the input and provide themed data to the Presidential Search Advisory Committee.

The Board of Governors is entering a significant phase of the presidential search process. We are developing the presidential candidate profile, and your input, as members of the KPU community, is critical.

Leaders International, a leading Canadian executive search firm, will conduct town hall meetings throughout February and March. Attendees will be invited to submit their views and thoughts on the following topics:

  • Required leadership attributes and experiences
  • Priorities, opportunities, and challenges facing the university over the next five to ten years
