Program Highlights and Travel Dates

Fashion Field School: London and Paris will be taught in FASN 3900, a 3 credit, special topics course. Pre-departure course hours will be a total of 10 hours over two days and will take place in the Summer 2025 semester. In this field school, you will have the opportunity to explore fashion and fashion marketing and design through the tremendous history of London and Paris. 

You will see first-hand how each city became, and have stayed, two of the most significant fashion centers of the world. You will be encouraged to connect with each other throughout the course, and engage in discussion and reflection with each experiential component. You will maintain hard-copy journals to document and express personal engagement, and also create an e-portfolio of awareness, reflection and learning outcomes based on your own experience.

Field School Highlights:

• Explore Savile Row, the Design Museum & Victoria, Musée de la Mode et du Textile (Louvre Museum), Musee des Arts Decoratifs, Palais Galliera, and Gobelins Factory
• Meet and hear from designers and industry members through studio and shop visits
• Visit museums, galleries, and tour fashion exhibits
• Participate in hands on making workshops

2. Travel/Experiential: May 4 – May 13, 2025* 

*Timing for pre-departure classes, and a finalized itinerary for the field school will be shared closer to April.

Program Fee

$4,516 CAD (estimated) 

Program fee covers:

• Accommodation
• Inter-city transfer from London to Paris
• Tours
• Entrance fees to museum/gallery/exhibitions
• Two group dinners
• Daily breakfast 
• Student travel insurance

Does NOT cover:

• Flights
• Local transportation
• Your personal spending budget
• Additional transportation costs 
• Most meals
• KPU tuition (3 credits) 
• Other costs not indicated in "Program fee covers"

NOTE: Should a decision be made by KPU to cancel a field school due to low enrolment or other academic/risk issues, participants will be entitled to a full rebate of any payments made including the deposit.

Program fees are an estimation only. The amount will be confirmed at the time of acceptance.

*Rate based on 3 credit charge through Tuition Estimator for Wilson School of Design’s Fashion and Technology field of study with University and KSA fees added. Additional fees may apply to your KPU account for the Multi-Pass and Kwantlen Student Association Extended Dental and Health Plan.     

**For a more accurate estimate, please search for the field school flight dates through your preferred provider. There will be the option to work with our tour provider to opt in to a group flight option with a minimum number of students opting in, which would result in a reduction in air fare costs. Further information about this will be shared in the new year.

Payment of academic fees, due dates, withdrawal charges, refund policies, and associated policies for academic fees are set as per the university calendar.

Classes Offered and Pre-requisites

FASN 3900 Design Field School (3 credits)

Pre-departure classes are scheduled for May 1 and May 2, and are co-taught by Lesley Pollard and Michael Pope. Exact times for these classes will be shared closer to the date. Some of the pre-departure work will be done self-paced over Moodle.  

Pre-requisites

45 credits of 1100 level or higher courses, or with permission from field school instructors.

Note that no previous Design experience is needed to enroll in FASN 3900. 
All KPU students are welcome and are encouraged to apply.

STEP 1: Fill out and submit your completed application online for the Field School.
STEP 2: Once you receive your acceptance, pay your $750 deposit towards program fees by November 15, 2024
