EXPERIENCE - Bring to your studies renewed depth, purpose and national/global awareness.
Program Highlights and Travel Dates
Visit Paris, France and study the modern and contemporary development of Paris as an urban space in tandem with key historical flashpoints connected to French art and visual culture. Travel and explore while learning about the city through the lens of art history and contemporary studio practices. Working with the shared theme PARIS—FROM THE OUTSIDE IN, the goal is to approach Paris as a city best explored from its lesser-known periphery to its highly influential center. Topics include traditions of avant-gardism, subversion, and outsider art influences characteristic of Paris during key historical turning points in the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries hand in hand with unpacking the rich history of migrant, émigré, and refugee artists who have often been absorbed into French history and/or marginalized from art history. This is truly a trip of a lifetime—come join KPU’s Fine Arts Field School and travel and learn alongside your fellow classmates and KPU faculty.
