The Kwantlen Science Challenge (KSC) is an exciting day-long event designed for high school students. Teams of Senior (grades 11/12) and Junior (grades 8/9/10) students participate in practical laboratory activities across various scientific disciplines. Here are the key details:
- Team Composition:
- Each team comprises five (5) students, with the option for up to two (2) substitutes.
- Registration is limited to 30 senior teams and 25 junior teams.
- Schools can register one senior team and one junior team on a first-come, first-served basis.
- All team members must submit a signed photo waiver form, available on the registration page.
- Challenges:
- Participants engage in five one-hour-long laboratory activities covering the following subjects: Biology Chemistry, Engineering Design, Geography, Mathematics, Physics, Sustainable Agriculture.
- These challenges are both educational and entertaining, providing an opportunity to apply scientific concepts and problem-solving skills.
- Preparation:
- Before the event, carefully review the instructions provided on the challenges page.
- Familiarize yourself with the specific requirements for each activity.
- Exploration:
- Compete with other schools and explore Kwantlen’s excellent facilities.
- Immerse yourself in hands-on lab work and discover the world of science.
- Logistics:
- The event is free to attend.
There are limited food options so you may want to bring your own lunch. The campus Tim Horton’s will be OPEN on the day of the event.
