This is KPU Library’s largest location, and it is located in the Arbutus Building. Its main entrance is an automatic door, located on the south side of the main courtyard. 

The elevator is located in the centre of the building, to the east of the main stairwell. There are three floors at this location, which can be accessed via stairwell or elevator. The collection is housed on the first and second floors, with study areas on all floors. The group study rooms are located on the second floor, and Teaching Labs on both the first and second floor. The Service Counter is located at the entrance to the library on the first floor, and the Research Help Desk, main computer area is at the centre of the library. KPU Archives is located on the third floor, and the Faculty of Arts and Teaching & Learning are located on the second floor. 

A water bottle filling station is available on the west side of the elevator pillar on the first floor as well as in the second floor front balcony space.

Learning Zones

  • Collaborative Learning Zones: First floor, group study rooms
  • Quiet Learning Zones: Second floor, computer labs
  • Silent Learning Zone: Third floor

Washrooms

Washrooms with barrier-free entrances and an accessible stall are available on all floors adjacent to the elevator. There is an additional single-stall, universal washroom on the south side of the elevator pillar. This washroom is also equipped with a change table. 

Height-Adjustable Desks

Each floor on the library is equipped with at least one height adjustable desk. 

  • First floor, in Teaching Lab
  • First floor, by the north side of the χʷəχʷéy̓əm Collection 
  • First floor, two accessible computer stations in the main computer area
  • Second floor, on the south side wall of the elevator shaft
  • Third floor, on the north wall by Archives
  • Third floor, beside Archives, on the south side of Archives

Accessible Computer Stations

The accessible computer stations at Surrey campus library are on the 1st floor computer area, close to the main stairwell.  The computers are on desks that can rise and lower and the computers are equipped with high-contrast keyboard and a headset. The computer has JAWS (screen reader) and ZoomText (magnification program).
