KPU Librarians are here to help you at any stage of your research process. Librarians can help you explore your topic, search and evaluate sources, and recommend resources for the information or research you seek.

AskAway Chat

Start a chat
Ideal for quick questions about the library, on-the-go research help, learning core library research skills including finding library materials, evaluating resources, citation basics. AskAway chat is also well suited for students who need assistance promptly.

AskAway Chats are staffed by KPU Librarians as well as other librarians and library staff from BC post-secondary institutions. Never AI!

Research Help Desk

Research Help Desk Hours

KPU Librarians can be found at each of our Research Help Desks at our campus libraries for in-person library and research help. They can help with any library or research question you may have, although they might refer you to your liaison librarian if you require specialized knowledge. No librarian at the Research Help Desk? Inquire at the Library Service Counter and they will find a librarian to help you. 

A Librarian is available at our Research Help Desks from 11am - 3pm, Monday through Friday. At Surrey campus library, our librarians are available from 10am - 4pm Monday through Thursday.  

Research Appointment

Book an appointment
You can schedule a research help appointment with a librarian in-person or online. Appointments are ideal for students who anticipate their research need is specialized or if you need help developing your search. That might mean researching a specific subject area or topic, learning to use a specialized eresource, or seeking specific sets of data. Find your Liaison Librarian at Contact Your Librarian and click 'Book an Appointment' beneath their profile. You may also email them directly to set up a time and mode to meet.

Liaison Librarians are experts in the resources in your subject area. If you have a subject specific question about a resource, topic, or research need, Contact your Librarian directly. Emails will typically be answered within two business days.

Learn to Research On Your Own

If you prefer to follow online guides and self-teach, or need a reference to consult, we have several online resources that teach students research basics. 

KPU Library Research Tutorial  (badged)

New! This self-enrolled badged Moodle course covers essential library research skills and strategies. Students receive a badge once completing the 5 modules.

This website is self-led and takes students though the process of library research, step-by-step. It features videos, instructions, and recommended resources.
